For me it is kinda hard to choose. 
I would say either Modern Warfare 3, Battle: Los Angeles, Total Miner or....Black Ops. Battlefield bad company 2, is there too.

I'd say the Mass Effect series. Absolutely groundbreaking in terms of gameplay, story and ideas.
